Product Description
The BSMJ Series Single Phase Self-Healing Shunt Capacitor is a low-voltage power capacitor developed by Geyue Electric for reactive power compensation in single-phase power networks. Connected in parallel with inductive loads such as motors, transformers and welding machines, it supplies reactive power locally, reduces the reactive power drawn from the utility grid, and brings the power factor back to 0.95 or above.
The capacitor uses metallized polypropylene film with a self-healing dielectric, sealed inside an aluminium can and impregnated with microcrystalline wax. If a local breakdown occurs, the thin metal layer around the fault evaporates and isolates the defect, so the capacitor returns to normal operation automatically. This greatly improves reliability and extends service life. High Performance Microcrystalline Wax Impregnating Agent

Check the operating voltageChoose a capacitor rated for the actual operating voltage of your system, not just the nominal grid voltage. In single-phase networks, a 0.23 kV or 0.25 kV rating is common.
Evaluate harmonicsIf variable frequency drives, rectifiers or welding equipment are present, harmonics can overload the capacitor. In that case, combine the capacitor with a series reactor to form a detuned capacitor bank, using a 7% or 14% reactance rate based on your harmonic spectrum.
